Fast Track Rec Soccer Training

We are excited to announce that we will be offering Fast Track Soccer Skill Training all season for U8 rec soccer players. These fast track sessions are FREE of charge, so please take advantage of this opportunity.

The sessions start Sept. 13, and will be on Monday evening throughout the season, from 5:30-6:30pm on field 5a.

Again, these are sessions are FREE and are for U8 aged Rec Soccer Players. If you have an advanced U6 player that you feel may be ready to attend, please contact us feel free to bring him/her out to a session for a review.

Referee Training Course at Rock Creek

Dawson County United Soccer Club has scheduled a beginning referee training course to be held at Rock Creek.

August 27-28
Friday (8/27) – 6:00pm-9:00pm
Saturday (8/28) – 9:00am-5:00pm

The course is the GA Referees R9 Course.

The cost is $80. The course fee does NOT include uniform or referee equipment, which will entail a cost of about $40 – $50 at a retailer. You must attend all of a nine (9) hours and pass a written 50-question test with  75% or higher. You will receive a teal Recreational Referee badge which will allow you to referee U-14 and younger recreational games and be an assistant referee on U-14 recreational and select games.

Rec Rosters and Coaches

There is a mandatory meeting for all Rec Soccer Coaches at Rock Creek on  Saturday, August 14 at 10am in lobby at Rock Creek.

Rosters will be announced on that day and coaches will be able to reserve their practice times.

PARENTS: Coaches will begin contacting players after August 14. At that time they will notify you  as to what team you son or daughter has been assigned to.

Rec Soccer Players,

Be sure to attend Rec Soccer Evaluations THIS SATURDAY, July 17 at Rock Creek. The evaluations are mandatory for all rec players. Without attending evaluations, we will not be able to create balanced teams.

The times for each age group are:

10:00am U5-U6 Players
11:00am U8-U10 Players
12noon U12-U14 Players

Please bring a soccer ball and be dressed to play, including shin guards and soccer shoes.

DCU U14 Boys Soccer Make Elite 8; Finish 3rd at State!

Congratulations DCU U14 Red Boys for putting on such a strong showing at State!

Capping off a very successful season under Coach Jerry Yarbrough, the Dawson County United U14 Red Boys Soccer team advanced to the elite 8 and competed this past weekend in the State Finals held in Columbus, GA.

The DCU Boys earned a spot in the Elite 8 by going undefeated in district play in a 3 game round-robin format that featured the best teams in our region. On the final day of district play, Dawson County tied the GSA Renegades, in a very tight back-and-forth dual. The tie earned GSA Renegades the district title by virtue of cumulative points allowed, but DCU’s undefeated record earned them on of the 2 open wild cards available for state finals.

A 3 game round-robin format was the format also used to decide the State Champion at the Elite 8. In the Elite 8 competition, DCU earned a rematch with GSA Renegades and erased any disappointment that may have been lingering from their district result by posting a huge 1-0 victory. The victory was a confidence boost for the boys. DCU also posted a very convincing 5-0 victory over Hinesville Gators. The only disappointment of the campaign came in a loss the eventual state champs, SCY Portugal.

In a very evenly played match, DCU and SCY Portugal looked destined to end deadlocked at a 0-0 tie. Scoring chances were difficult to come by for either team, but in the later stages of the match, NAME earned a 1-0 victory over the DCU U14 Red Boys off of a goal scored from a deflected corner kick. It was DCU’s first loss and only loss in the competition, but it was enough to crown NAME as state champs and place DCU in third.  A strong result for a first year team hailing from a club that is only 2 years old.

“The entire club is really proud of the U14 boys”, said DCU Club President Anton Sieber. “We have all seen them go grow tremendously over the past year. They have worked hard and they are all turning into quality soccer players.” Head Coach Jerry Yarbrough added, “the boys worked harder than they have ever worked at anything before. They’ve put in the work and deserve a lot of praise for what they have accomplished.

Rec League News: Fall Rec Soccer Registration NOW OPEN!

Registration for the Fall 2010 Rec Soccer Season is NOW OPEN. Registration will close on July 10.

There will be one day of walk-in registration on Saturday, July 10 from 9am-3pm at Rock Creek Sports Complex.

Rec League News: Regular Season Practice Schedule

Coaches and parents,

Monday, March 15, marks the beginning of the regular season practice schedule. This means that 6:30 practice slots are now available due to the extra daylight. The practice matrix with the times for all team practices is on the “Schedules and Calendars” page of our website.

IMPORTANT: ALL DCU PLAYERS

Regardless of the field status for Saturday, March 13, all DCU teams are STILL SCHEDULED to have their team and individual photos take at their designated times.

Photos will be taken inside of the gym!
