3v3 Academy Tournament Information

March 22, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

This Saturday, 3/27, will be our Academy 3v3 Soccer Tournament.

For those of you that are not familiar with the soccer tournament, it is an event that includes all of our Academy and Pre-Academy players, broken down into age groups and small teams. Each team will consist of 4 or 5 players and will play 3 games against other teams in their age division.

Games will be held at Rock Creek and the schedule runs from 9 till 5. The schedule will work around the Rec games for the U8 players.

This year’s soccer tournament will serve as a charity event to help Dawson County Family Connection & Ric Rack Thrift Store with their Children’s Summer Food Program.

Each player will be asked to donate $3 to The Children’s Summer Food Program as a registration fee. The Children’s Summer Food Program is a charity that is operated by Dawson County Family Connections and Rik Rack Thrift Store.

Breakfast and lunch items will be for sale and are being provided by Bojangle’s and Chick-Fil-A. We will have lunch and breakfast items for sale, as well, with the proceeds going to the charity.

Rosters and Schedules will be released in the next day or 2, but please let me know now if there is a conflict and your child will not be there the whole day. We can still adjust the rosters before releasing them.

Rock Creek Opening Day Celebration March 20

March 10, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Every spring, Rock Creek celebrates the opening of it’s rec sports seasons. This year, the celebration will be on March 20.

All DCU Soccer Teams are invited to attend.

The Opening Day festivities are managed by Rock Creek Park, so please direct any questions about specific items on the agenda to park. CLICK HERE for a list of the opening day agenda.

Due to growth of the Parks & Recreation programs and in efforts to maintain a safe environment, the 2010 Opening Day festivities will be scheduled differently than in the recent past.  For 2010 Opening Day, we have eliminated the foot parade, the opening ceremony, and the itinerary of scheduled events.  Instead, we will have vendors, activities, and food available 9AM-1PM.
The festivities will be relocated to the area beside the Rec. Center.  Look for the balloons!!!
Teams are still encouraged to display a team banner/flag and/or team mascot to be judged.  Winning teams will be awarded a pool party at Veterans Memorial Park.
